Bodrum'a su sağlayan Mumcular ve Geyik Barajlarının su kalmadığı için ardı ardına kapatılmasıyla zaten çok uzun zamandır su sorunu yaşanan ilçede sıkıntı zirve yaptı. Barajlarda su varken de sık sık patlayan ana isale hatları nedeniyle uzun süreli su kesintileri yaşanan ilçede 2 haftaya yakın sürelerle susuz kalındığı günler oldu ve bu durum hala sürüyor.

Neden bu kadar beklendi?
MUSKİ yeraltı su kazaılarıSu sorununa çözüm olarak yağmur yağıp barajların dolması gerekiyor ancak değişen koşullar nedeniyle beklenen yağışlar da gelmedi. Yarımada da neredeyse bağıra bağıra gelen su krizi için açıklama da barajların kapatılmaıyla geldi. Muğla Büyükşehir Belediyesi, Muğla Su ve Kanalizasyon İdaresi (MUSKİ) Genel Müdürü Baki Ülgen Bodrum’da yaşanan su sorunuyla ilgili 12 EKim 2023 tarihinde açıklamalarda bulundu.
Ülgen, olağanüstü bir durumla karşı karşıya kaldıklarını belirterek umutlarını yeraltı suları yani kuyulara bağladıklarını belirtti. Ülgen, Muğla Büyükşehir Belediyesi'nin (MBB) 2024 bütçesinde sorunun çözümü ya da yeni yatırımlar için 150 milyon TL bütçe ayırdığını da söyledi.

Muğla Büyükşehir Belediyesi'nin bakanlıklarla ortaklaşa gerçekleştirdiği alt yapı, kanalizasyon arıtıma tesisleri yapımı ve büyütülmesi projeleri nedeniyle vatandaşla sık sık karşıya karşıya gelen Bodrum Belediyesi bir yandan da patlayan ana isale hatlarıyla boğuştu. Sonunda alt yapısı biten yerlerde yollar kapatılıp asfaltlandı, tatil cenneti de çukur, çamur, toz üçlemesinden kurtuldu. Ama bu kez de göstere göstere gelen susuzluk kapıya dayandı.

Bodrum Belediye Başkanı Ahmet Aras, Bodrum genelinde yaşanan su sıkıntıları ve Bodrum Belediyesi’nin su taleplerine karşı çözümü "şimdilik" tankerle su taşımakta bulduğunu açıkladı. Ve toplam 7 tankerle devasa bir ilçenin su sorununa çözüm olmak için yola çıkıldığı açıklandı!
Kimlere, hangi yöntemle su dağıtılıyor?
Bodrum Belediye Başkanı Ahmet Aras artık dayanılmaz boyutlara gelen susuzluk sorunuyla ilgili şunları söyledi;

“Küresel iklim krizi ile mücadele edilen şu günlerde Bodrum’a su sağlayan barajların da kapatılmasıyla birlikte ilçemizde son günlerde yaşanan su sıkıntıları dolayısıyla Bodrum Belediyesi olarak elimizden geldiğince vatandaşlarımızın su taleplerini karşılıyoruz. Bodrum’daki muhtelif su kuyularından temin ettiğimiz suları, halkımıza ulaştırmak için var gücümüzle çalışıyoruz.
Bodrum Belediyesi Çağrı Merkezinde alınan talepler, ilgili müdürlük tarafından kayda alınırken vatandaşlarımızın hanelerine sırayla su takviyesi yapıyoruz. Bu kapsamda Bodrum Belediyesi Destek Hizmetler Müdürlüğü’nden üç araçla yarımadanın farklı noktalarına ulaştırılan su için Temizlik İşleri, Park ve Bahçeler ile Fen İşleri Müdürlüğümüz'den dört araç daha tahsis ettik. Önümüzdeki süreçte toplam yedi araçla su takviyesi hizmetlerimize planlı olarak devam edeceğiz."

Bodrum Belediyesi ekiplerince talepler doğrultusunda yapılan çalışmaları aktaran Belediye Başkanı Ahmet Aras açıklamalarını şöyle sürdürdü;
"Son dönemde gerçekleştirilen çalışmalar kapsamında toplam 915 haneye 2 bin 432 ton su temini sağladık. 3 araçla yapmış olduğumuz seferlerde günlük ortalama 75 haneye ulaştık. Taleplere istinaden 24 mahallemizde 15-30 Ağustos tarihleri arasında 165 haneye 199 sefer yaparak 677 ton suyu ulaştırdık. Eylül ayında ise 27 mahallede 433 haneye 323 sefer ile bin 115 ton su ulaştırdık. 1-14 Ekim tarihleri arasındaki çalışmalar kapsamında 27 mahallede 317 haneye 217 sefer yaparak 640 ton suyu vatandaşlarımızla buluşturduk. Bodrum Belediye Başkanı olarak daha önceden de beyan ettiğim gibi Bodrum halkının her zaman yanında olacağız. Elimizden gelenin en iyisini yapmaya, tüm birimlerimizle birlikte su sıkıntılarını asgari seviyeye indirmek üzere var gücümüzle çalışmaya devam edeceğiz.”

The year is 2023 and the water problem in Bodrum has peaked. The municipality found its last resort in distributing water with tankers. The resulting images reminded me of nostalgic photographs.
With the closure of the Mumcular and Geyik Dams, which provide water to Bodrum, one after the other due to lack of water, the problem reached its peak in the district, which had already had a water problem for a long time. There were days when the district experienced long-term water outages due to main transmission lines bursting frequently even when there was water in the dams, and there were days when the district remained without water for nearly 2 weeks, and this situation still continues.
Why did it wait so long?
As a solution to the water problem, it was supposed to rain and fill the dams, but due to changing conditions, the expected rains did not come. The explanation for the water crisis that was almost raging in the peninsula came with the closure of the dams. Baki Ülgen, General Manager of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, Muğla Water and Sewerage Administration (MUSKI), made a statement about the water problem in Bodrum on October 12, 2023. Ülgen stated that they were faced with an extraordinary situation and that they pinned their hopes on groundwater, that is, wells. Ülgen also said that Muğla Metropolitan Municipality (MBB) allocated 150 million TL for this issue in its 2024 budget.

Bodrum Municipality, which frequently came into conflict with citizens due to the infrastructure, sewage treatment facility construction and expansion projects carried out by Muğla Metropolitan Municipality jointly with the ministries, also struggled with bursting main transmission lines. Finally, in places where the infrastructure was finished, the roads were closed and asphalted, and the holiday paradise was saved from the trio of potholes, mud and dust. But this time, the apparent thirst came knocking.
Bodrum Mayor Ahmet Aras announced that he found the solution to the water shortages throughout Bodrum and the water demands of Bodrum Municipality by transporting water by tanker "for now". And it was announced that they set out to solve the water problem of a huge district with a total of 7 tankers.
To whom and by what method is water distributed?
Bodrum Mayor Ahmet Aras said the following about the thirst problem, which has now reached unbearable levels;
“As Bodrum Municipality, we are meeting the water demands of our citizens as much as we can, due to the water shortages experienced in our district in recent days, as well as the closure of the dams supplying water to Bodrum, in these days when we are struggling with the global climate crisis. We are working with all our strength to deliver the water we provide from various water wells in Bodrum to our people.
While the requests received at the Bodrum Municipality Call Center are recorded by the relevant directorate, we supply water to our citizens' households one by one. In this context, we allocated four more vehicles from our Directorate of Cleaning Works, Parks and Gardens and Technical Affairs for the water delivered to different points of the peninsula with three vehicles from Bodrum Municipality Support Services Directorate. "We will continue our water supply services as planned, with a total of seven vehicles in the coming period."
2 thousand 432 tons of water for 915 households
Explaining the work carried out by Bodrum Municipality teams in line with the demands, Mayor Aras continued his statements as follows;
"Within the scope of the recent works, we provided 2 thousand 432 tons of water to a total of 915 households. We reached an average of 75 households per day in the trips we made with 3 vehicles. Based on the demands, we delivered 677 tons of water to 165 households in 24 neighborhoods between 15-30 August by making 199 trips. In September We delivered 1,115 tons of water to 433 households in 27 neighborhoods with 323 trips. Within the scope of the works between October 1-14, we made 217 trips to 317 households in 27 neighborhoods and delivered 640 tons of water to our citizens. As I have stated before, as the Mayor of Bodrum, we always support the people of Bodrum. "We will continue to do our best and work with all our strength to minimize water shortages with all our units."
