Turgutreis'te 21 Eylül 2023 Perşembe günü iki kişi ateşli silahla vurularak öldürüldü. Öldürülen kişilerden birisinin eski baro başkanı olan bir avukat ile emekli bir icre memuru olduğu anlaşıldı. 48 Haber Ajansı sıcağı sıcağına verdiği haberde cinayetin sebebinin kaybedilmiş bir davadan kaynaklandığını, katil zanlısının da jandarma karakoluna giderek teslim olduğunu yazmıştı. Akyarlar'da turistik tesis işletmeciliği yapan G.Ö. ile emekli icra memuru Özcan Çavdar ve avukat Erdal Çam, bir kafeteryada buluşarak kahve içip konuştular.

Yine iddialara göre katil zanlısı G.Ö., yemek yemeleri için Çam ve Çavdar’ı işletmesini yaptığı otele davet etti. Çam, Çavdar ve cinayet zanlısı G.Ö. aynı araca binerken, G.Ö.’nün arkadaşı O.K. ise arkadaki araçla öndeki aracı takip etmeye başladı. Turgutreis, Turgut Özal Bulvarı üzerinde iddialara göre araçta tartışma çıktı. G.Ö. yanında getirdiği silahla önce yolcu koltuğunda oturan emekli icra memuru Özcan Çavdar’ı kafasına ateş etti. Araçtan inen G.Ö. avukatı Erdal Çam’ın kafasına silahla tek el ateş etti. İddialara göre, G.Ö. kendilerini takip eden O.K. adlı şahsın kullandığı araca binerek Turgutreis’teki jandarma karakoluna gitti ve silahıyla birlikte teslim oldu. Cinayet zanlısını karakola bıraktığı iddia edilen O.K. Denizli’de gece saatlerinde gözaltına alınarak Bodrum’a getirildi.

Akyarlar Mahallesi’nde turistik tesis işletmeciliği yapan G.Ö.'nün bina sahibiyle sorun yaşadığı, mal sahibinin kiracı konumundaki G.Ö.'den binayı tahliye etmesini istediği öne sürüldü. G.Ö.’nün de emekli icra memuru Özcan Çavdar’dan avukat bulmasını istediği, G.Ö.’nün Çavdar aracılığı ile Denizli eski baro başkanı olan ve Bodrum Barosu'na kayıtlı olarak mesleğini sürdüren avukat Erdal Çam’a vekalet verdiği anlaşıldı. 3 yıl süren dava G.Ö'nün aleyhine sonuçlandığı iddia edildi. G.Ö.'nün ifadesinde avukat Çam'a yüklü miktarda ödeme yaptığını iddia ettiği ve bu sorunu konuşmak için öldürdüğü 2 kişiyle buluştuğunu söylediği öğrenildi.
İki kişiyi ateşli silahla öldürdüğü iddia edilen G.Ö. çıkatıldığı mahkemece tutuklanarak cezaevine gönderildi. Bodrum Barosu yayınladığı duyuru ile cinayetleri protesto etti.
