Gümüşlük sahilinde kalan son halk plajı olan kumsala özel bir işletmenin şezlonglarını yayması nedeniyle eylem yapıldı.
Bodrum Belediye Başkanı Tamer Mandalinci geçtiğimiz günlerde belediye kafelerin önündeki halk plajlarında şezlonglarına rtık parayla kiralanacağını duyurmuştu. Bodrum belediye Meclisi Mayıs ayı olağan toplantısında konuşan Mandalinci, "Belediye kafelerin önündeki plajlarda şezlong ücretlerinin 100 TL olacağını" söylemişti. Belediye tesisi önünde bulunmayan halk plajlarında herhangi bir ücretin söz konusu olmadığını açıklayan Mandalinci'nin bu konuşmasının hemen ardından Gümüşlükte kalan son parça olan Çayıraltı Halk Plajına özel bir işletme şezlonglarını yerleştirdi.

Plajın arka tarafındaki alanın özel bir işletmeye kiralanması sonrası yerleştirilen şezlonglar için işletmenin Bodrum Belediyesi'ne izin talep dilekçesi yazdığı öne sürüldü. Gümüşlük Çayıraltı Halk Plajına yerleştirilen şezlonglar nedeniyle çeşitli platformlar, forumlar, STK ve insiyatiflerle Gümüşlük yaşayanları halk plajında eylem yaptı.
Bodrum Kent Konseyi Gümüşlük Çalışma Grubu, Gümüşlük Forumu, Özgür Kıyılar Bodrum İnisiyatifi ve vatandaşların eyleminde "Kıyılar halkındır", "Kıyılar ranta değil halka kalsın", "Balıklar foklar neden şimdi yoklar", "Denizler, nehirler sermaye değiller", "denize erişim herkesin hakkı" yazılı dövizler taşındı. Kıyıya şezlonglarını koyduğu iddia edilen işletmenin tel güvenlik bariyerlerine ise 2 adet kağıt asılıp üzerlerine, "şezlonglar halkın kullanımına açıktı" ve "şezloınglar ücretsizdir" yazıldığı görüldü.

Bu yazılara da tepki gösteren vatandaşlar, "halk pljaı halkındır" diyerek Bodrum Belediyesi zabıtalarının neden ortalıkta gözükmediğini sorguladılar. Vatandaşlar Bodrum Belediye Başkanı Tamer Mandalinci, Bodrum Belediye Başkan Yardımcısı Gümüşlüklü İlknur Ülküm Seferoğlu ve meclis üyelerinin hiç zaman kaybetmeden sorunu çözmelerini istedi.
Kamuoyu açıklamasını çevreci aktivist, ekolojist, Bodrum Su İnisiyatifi ve Özgür Kıyılar Bodrum İnisiyatifi aktif kurucu üyelerinden olan Güney Şirin okudu. Açıklama şöyle;
"Kaymakamlık, belediye, ticaret odası ve siyasi parti temsilcileriyle görüştük. Görüşme yaptığımız tüm kurum temsilcileri olumlu tepkiler verdiler. İşgallerin, kısmen de olsa geriye çekileceğinin sözünü verdiler. Bugün içinde bulunduğumuz halk plajı işgali, Bodrum’un değişik kıyılarında devam eden ve yenileri eklenen işgaller gösteriyor ki, iyi niyetli yaklaşımlar, verilen sözler, her zaman olduğu gibi unutulmuş görünüyor. Unutmayacağız, Unutturmayacağız! Halkız, Haklıyız, Kazanacağız!
Yetkililerden tek istediğimiz işlerini yapmaları, ve sorumluluklarını yerine getirmeleridir. Anayasanın 43. maddesi ve kıyı kanunu 5 ve 6. Maddelerinin gereğini yaparak işgallere son vermeleridir."
“Topu taca atmaktan vazgeçin. Biliyoruz, yetkiniz de sorumluluğunuzda var. Tarafınızı belli edin. Haklı çoğunluğun mu? Güçlü azınlığın mı yanındasınız? Turizm bakanlığının sözde halk plajlarında giriş ücreti, şezlong, şemsiye ücretini eleştirdiğimiz noktada sosyal belediyecilik iddiasındaki bir yönetimin şezlong fiyatlarını 100 TL yaptığını duyurması al birini vur birine değildir de nedir? Turizm bakanlığının sözde halk plajlarında ve belediye plajlarında şezlong ücretlerinin iptal edilmesini, halkın özgürce denize girme, kıyıya ulaşma hakkının önündeki tüm engellerin kaldırılmasını talep ediyoruz.”
“Turizm işletmeleri ile bir derdimiz olmadı olmayacak. Mücadelemiz işgalcilerle ve işgallere göz yumanlarla olacaktır. Bu işgal anlayışının turizme büyük zarar verildiğinin de bilinmesini istiyoruz. Halkımıza çağrımızdır, klavye başında işgalden kurtulan vatan olmadığı gibi işgalden kurtulan kıyıda, plajda olmayacaktır. Hakkımız olanı almak için, hep birlikte olmaya, birlikte mücadele etmeye çağırıyoruz. Hangi partiden, hangi düşünceden olursan ol, mücadeleye gel Kıyılar Bizim Hepimizin.”

Haberimiz yayına hazırlanana kadar (08.05.2025 TSİ 15:00) Bodrum Belediyesi'nden, Bodrum Belediye Başkanı Tamer Mandalinci'den, Gümüşlük Mahalle Muhtarı Zeki Pay'dan, Muğla Büyükşehir Belediyesi'nden konuyla ilgili hiç bir açıklama yapılmadı. Eyleme katılanlar, özel işletmeye ait şezlonglar kalkana, Bodrum Belediyesi plaja sahip çıkana kadar her akşam Gümüşlük Halk Plajı'nda toplanma kararı aldı.

Occupation of "Public Beach" in Gümüşlük
The action was taken because a private business had spread its sunbeds on the last remaining public beach on the Gümüşlük coast. Details in the news...
Bodrum Mayor Tamer Mandalinci had recently announced that the sunbeds on the public beaches in front of the municipality cafes would now be rented for a fee. Speaking at the regular meeting of the Bodrum Municipality Council in May, Mandalinci said, "The municipality had said that the sunbed fee on the beaches in front of the cafes would be 100 TL. Mandalinci, who stated that there was no fee for public beaches that were not in front of the municipality facility, immediately after this speech, a private business placed its sunbeds on the Çayıraltı Public Beach, the last remaining piece in Gümüşlük.
It was alleged that the business wrote a petition requesting permission to the Bodrum Municipality for the sunbeds placed after the area behind the beach was rented to a private business. Due to the sunbeds placed on the Çayıraltı Public Beach in Gümüşlük, the residents of Gümüşlük protested on the public beach with various platforms, forums, NGOs and initiatives.
Bodrum City Council Gümüşlük Working Group, Gümüşlük Forum, Free Coasts Bodrum Initiative and citizens' protests included "Coasts belong to the people", "Coasts should remain for the people, not for rent", "Why are fish and seals gone now?", "There are too many laws, why fight for your rights?", "Seas, rivers are capital" They are not", "Everyone has the right to access the sea" banners were carried. It was seen that two pieces of paper were hung on the wire security barriers of the business that allegedly placed its sunbeds on the shore and that "sunbeds were open to public use" and "sunbeds are free of charge" were written on them. Citizens who also reacted to these signs said "public beach belongs to the public" and questioned why Bodrum Municipality police officers were not around. Citizens wanted Bodrum Mayor Tamer Mandalinci, Bodrum Deputy Mayor Gümüşlüklü İlknur Ülküm Seferoğlu and the council members to solve the problem without wasting any time.
Occupation of "Public Beach" in Gümüşlük - İbrahim Hakkı Zırh
The public statement was read by Güney Şirin, an environmental activist, ecologist, and an active member of the Bodrum Water Initiative and the Free Coasts Bodrum Initiative. The statement is as follows;
"We met with the district governor's office, municipality, chamber of commerce and political party representatives. All the institution representatives we met with gave positive responses. They promised that the occupations would be withdrawn, even if only partially. The public beach occupation we are in today, the ongoing and new occupations on different shores of Bodrum show that, as always, well-intentioned approaches and promises seem to have been forgotten. We will not forget, We will not let others forget! We are the people, we are right, we will win!
All we want from the authorities is to do their jobs and fulfill their responsibilities. They should end the occupations by fulfilling the requirements of Article 43 of the Constitution and Articles 5 and 6 of the Coastal Law."
“Stop throwing the ball to the back. We know that you have authority and responsibility. Show your side. Are you on the side of the rightful majority or the powerful minority? When we criticize the entrance fee, sunbed and umbrella fee at the so-called public beaches of the Ministry of Tourism, the announcement by an administration claiming to be a social municipality that has increased the sunbed prices to 100 TL is nothing but a case of hitting someone and hitting someone. We demand that the Ministry of Tourism cancel the sunbed fees at the so-called public and municipal beaches and that all obstacles to the people’s right to freely enter the sea and reach the shore be removed.”
“We have never had a problem with tourism businesses and we will never have one. Our struggle will be with the occupiers and those who turn a blind eye to the occupation. We also want it to be known that this occupation mentality causes great harm to tourism. Our call to our people is that just as there is no country that is liberated from occupation at the keyboard, there will be no land or beach liberated from occupation. We call on everyone to be together and fight together to get what is rightfully ours. No matter what party or ideology you belong to, come to the struggle, the Shores are Ours, All of Us”
No statement was made by Bodrum Municipality on the subject until our news was prepared for publication. The participants of the action decided to gather at Gümüşlük Public Beach every evening until the privately owned sunbeds were removed and Bodrum Municipality took ownership of the beach.
