Gümüşlükte Myndos kazıları sırasında kullanılan kazı evi ve eser deposu olarak inşa edilmiş yapıların kaçak restoran olarak işletildiği iddiaları ve alanın 1. derceden SİT alanı olduğu gerekçesiyle bugün yıkım yapılacağı açıklandı. Bazı STK'ların sosyal medya hesaplarından vatandaşlara çağrı yapılarak yıkımın "Müze Müdürlüğü denetiminde" gerçekleştirileceği belirtildi. Çağrılarda, "yıkımına destek vermek ve kültürel mirasımıza sahip çıkmak adına tüm halkımızı orada olmaya davet ediyoruz" denildi.
Davetin yapıldığı saatte çağrıyı yapan STK'lar ve vatandaşlar ile Bodrum Müze Müdürlüğü, Bodrum Belediyesi ekipleri bölgeye geldi. Söz konusu yapının bulunduğu arazinin sahibi ile STK'ları temsil edenler karşılıklı görüşlerini açıkladı. 1970 yılından bu yana arazinin sahibi olduğunu belirten şahıs, kazı evi ve eser deposu olarak kullanılan binayı kazı döneminde kendi izinleriyle kazı ekibinin kurduğunu ancak kazının bitiminin ardından yıkmadan bırakıp gittiklerini, asıl mağdurun kendileri olduğunu söyledi.
STK temsilcileri yıkımı yapılacak binanın izinsiz olarak restorana çevrilip işletildiğini, Myndos antik kentindeki kültürel mirasa sahip çıkmak için orada olduklarını söylediler. Arazinin sahibi olan şahıs da kaçak yapı ve izinsiz işletme iddiaları konusunda mahallede olduğunu iddia ettiği başka uygunsuzlukları örnekleyerek, "yasalar herkese eşit uygulanmalı" dedi.
Karşılıklı tartışmalar ve fikir alışverişleri sonrası yıkım gerçekleşmeden ekiplerle STK tekmsilcileri ve vatandaşlar bölgeden ayrıldı. STK'ların sosyal medya hesaplarından yapılan "destek" paylaşımları ve çağrılar şöyleydi;

"Gümüşlük 305 ada 127 parsel içerisindeki Myndos kazıları sırasında kullanılan kazı evi ve eser deposu olarak inşa edilmiş yapılar hakkında,
Muğla ili Bodrum ilçesi Karakaya mahallesinde bulunan ve yukarıda belirttiğimiz parsel, Muğla Kültür Varlıklarını Koruma Bölge Kurulu'nun 24.10.2013 tarih ve 2033 sayılı kararıyla 1.Derece arkeolojik sit olarak tescil edilmiştir.
Ayrıca,Kültür Varlıkları ve Müzeler Genel Müdürlüğünün 10.07.2018 tarih 580004 sayılı yazısına istinaden Muğla Kültür Varlıklarını Koruma Bölge Kurulu'nun 18.07.2018-303 toplantısında alınan 6986 sayılı kararı doğrultusunda Müze Müdürlüğü denetiminde kaldırılmasına karar verilmişti.
13.04.2026 Pazartesi günü sabah saat 10.30 da Kazı evinin bu karar nedeniyle alınan yıkımına destek vermek ve kültürel mirasımıza sahip çıkmak adına tüm halkımızı orada olmaya davet ediyoruz.
Tarihi değerlerimizin korunması, hukukun ve kamu düzeninin sağlanması için birlik içinde hareket etmek büyük önem taşımaktadır.

What happened to the call for the demolition of the Myndos excavation house?
A call was made for the demolition of the building constructed as an excavation house and artifact storage facility during the Myndos excavations in Gümüşlük. What happened? Details in the news...
It was announced that the demolition of the buildings, constructed as an excavation house and artifact storage facility during the Myndos excavations in Gümüşlük, would take place today due to allegations that they were being operated as an illegal restaurant and because the area is a first-degree protected historical site. Some NGOs made calls to citizens via their social media accounts, stating that the demolition would be carried out "under the supervision of the Museum Directorate." The calls stated, "We invite all our people to be there to support the demolition and to protect our cultural heritage."
At the time the call was made, the NGOs and citizens who made the call, along with teams from the Bodrum Museum Directorate and Bodrum Municipality, arrived at the site. The owner of the land where the building is located and representatives of the NGOs expressed their views. The individual who has owned the land since 1970 stated that the building, used as an excavation house and artifact storage facility, was erected by the excavation team with their permission during the excavation period, but they left it undemolished after the excavation ended, making them the real victims.
Representatives of NGOs stated that the building to be demolished was illegally converted into a restaurant and operated as such, and that they were there to protect the cultural heritage of the ancient city of Myndos. The landowner, in response to allegations of illegal construction and unauthorized operation, cited other alleged irregularities in the neighborhood as examples, stating that laws should be applied equally to everyone.
Following discussions and exchanges of ideas, the teams, NGO representatives, and citizens left the area before the demolition took place. The NGOs' social media posts and calls for "support" were as follows:

"Regarding the structures built as an excavation house and artifact storage facility used during the Myndos excavations on plot 127 of island 305 in Gümüşlük,
The aforementioned plot, located in Karakaya neighborhood of Bodrum district, Muğla province, was registered as a 1st Degree archaeological site by the Muğla Regional Board for the Protection of Cultural Heritage with decision number 2033 dated 24.10.2013.
Furthermore, in accordance with decision number 6986 taken at the meeting of the Muğla Regional Board for the Protection of Cultural Heritage on 18.07.2018-303, based on the letter number 580004 dated 10.07.2018 from the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums, it was decided to demolish the structures under the supervision of the Museum Directorate.
We invite all our citizens to be present at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 13, 2026, to support the demolition of the excavation house due to this decision and to protect our cultural heritage." We are doing this.
It is of great importance to act in unity to protect our historical values and to ensure the rule of law and public order.
